Day 5, Monday - Cascade Falls, Navaho Lake, Duck Creek

Today has been a recovery day. Ginger and I walked a couple miles around Duck Creek Village, and we picked up some tourist info at the Duck Creek Visitor Center. We got some aerobic exercise just wandering the neighborhood roads.
This neigborhood road is steeper than it look.
We went to Cascade Falls in the afternoon.

The path from the trailhead to the falls actually had steps.

Navaho Lake drains at one end through about 2 miles of sink holes until the water comes out as Cascade Falls. A levee has been built across the lake so that during dry seasons only half the lake will drain. We could see the levee as a light-colored line crossing the entire lake, about 2 feet under the surface. Maps showing the lake actually show it with a straight edge, apparently where the levee is.

The levee shows vaguely through the trees as a light-colored line crossing the lake.

Home again for a delicious meal on the porch.
