Day 6, Tuesday - Bryce Canyon

We headed off to Bryce Canyon bright and early - on he road before 8:30 am - and parked at the entrance to the Park. Park shuttles drive through the park and provide convenient stop and pickup opportunities. We took the shuttle to the far stop at Bryce Point and got our first good look at the Canyon.

Next stop - Inspiration Point. Again, more amazing views.

Somehow this tree manages to find enough water to survive.

We divided up at Sunset Point. Myra, Ginger, Nick and Betsy took the longer and more challenging Navajo Loop Trail. Roddy, Paula and Jorge took the part of the Rim Trail and part of the Queen's Garden Trail.

To get down to the river bed, we had to descend "Wall Street" by zig-zagging across several switchbacks. Fortunately it was quite manageable.

Nick got to the bottom first, and was kept company by some natives.

Once we got to the bottom of the gorge, the walking was pretty easy. We went along a dry creek bed. We could see plenty of evidence of where the water would fill up during floods.

We stopped for lunch at the turnoff for the Queen Victoria hoodoo.  A sign showed us what to look for, or we might have missed the site completely. At just the right angle, the hoodoo resembles a photo of Queen Victoria in profile, with her long skirt and bustle.

The path that took us back to the top was harder than the trek down, probably because it was later in the day (and therefore hotter), and there was almost no shade.

Back at the top, we drove to some of the other lookout points.
