We ate a big breakfast and packed sandwiches for a picnic lunch.
It was a bit later than we had hoped, but we were finally on the road for the 1-1/2 hour drive to Zion National Park. Nick had the challenge of maneuvering through many switchback hairpin turns on the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive as we went down toward the Virgin River.
We parked in Springdale and rode the free shuttle to the park. Inside the park we took advantage of the park shuttle buses to get us from one trailhead to another, and picked a few spots for more exploring.
After lunch Nick, Myra, and Betsy decided to wade through the river.

As the shuttle drove us down toward the Virgin River, we could see the cliffs towering above us. We got off at the last shuttle stop to hike along the river.
Lunch time as a picnic at one of the many scenic spot where we could gt off the trail and sit down. The native squirrels apparently didn't know about the rule that they weren't to be fed, since they daringly waited for crumbs to drop.
After lunch Nick, Myra, and Betsy decided to wade through the river.
Roddy, Paula and Jorge stayed behind and watched the crowds.
By the time we got back to the shuttle stop to take us back to the Visitor's Center, and then waited for Nick to walk to the van and pick us all up, we were quite tired.
Back to the house, supper, and we were all ready to call it a day.
Hurray! Both for a wonderful beginning to your adventure and for you blogging!! Great photos so far! Get that coffee and let us see more! :)
